The 10th anniversary edition of the DIDS 2019 conference, the most attended Internet conference in Serbia, will be held on 5th March at the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade, organised by the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry Foundation (RNIDS). This year the conference will address transformation and its necessity for survival in a digitalised world, and seek answers to the question of how to get in step with the changes already happening all around us. Hence the slogan for this years’ Serbian Internet Domains Day is “Digital Transformation has Already Begun”
The topic of this year’s DIDS is not only closely tied to the Internet and information technologies but also to our world and the times we live in. Both biologically and symbolically speaking, life entails the ability to transform. What changes, adapts, grows and perfects itself will live and flourish. The alternative is inevitable stagnancy, decline and disappearance. Although this has always been true, this principle takes on a new meaning in the current age, in which it seems to us that time is accelerating and innovation never stops. Everything is interconnected, everything is accessible, all the time. On all platforms. Those rare things that do not fit that description are today considered obsolete or retrograde, and doomed to soon disappear.
This logic applies to every sphere of life, but to business too, regardless of the size of the organisation, the industry and whether it operates in the public or the private sector.
If a mundane household appliance like a refrigerator now has its own IP address, software that updates itself periodically and an interface which can be accessed at any time and from anywhere in the world, then it is time for all of us to undergo rapid change – in the way we do business and the way we live – before we are washed away by its tides.
And if we have opted for change, or circumstances have dictated it, then we need to know how. Today there is no greater resource available to us than the knowledge of how to transform and shape the future. In all spheres, and at all levels.
So, welcome to DIDS – where digital transformation has already begun.
