A new era in cyber security is coming to Europe, and thus to Serbia. The fifteenth conference Internet Domain Day of Serbia (DIDS 2025), which will be held on March 18 in the Youth Center of Belgrade, will pay special attention to this topic through the panel “The Future of the Internet: Regulations, Technologies and Business Horizons”.

The NIS2 directive represents the most comprehensive European law on cyber security to date, which significantly expands the obligations of companies in protecting digital systems. This regulation introduces stricter security requirements for critical infrastructure, including the energy sector, healthcare, banking, as well as digital services such as cloud computing and data centers. For Serbian companies that do business or plan to do business with the EU, understanding the NIS2 directive becomes crucial for survival on the market.

The panel will bring together leading experts who will analyze in detail all aspects of the new regulation and provide practical advice for adapting to the new standards. Among them is Rastko Petaković, senior partner at Karanović & Partners and member of the board of directors of Digital Serbia, whose expertise in the field of competition law and business regulation is particularly important for understanding the new obligations of companies. Petaković will talk about the expanded security measures that companies must implement, new protocols for risk management, as well as reporting obligations on cyber incidents.

Mika Tasich, a technological visionary with over 25 years of experience working with giants such as Google and BMW, will shed light on the technical side of the implementation of new standards. His extensive experience in cloud architecture and artificial intelligence will help participants understand how to practically implement new security requirements in existing systems. Tasich will pay special attention to the challenges faced by companies in harmonizing their technological solutions with new regulatory requirements.

Christian Kaufman, vice president of technology at Akamai and one of the members of the ICANN board of directors. He will talk about the impact of NIS2 on the development of digital infrastructure. As an expert leading the technology development of one of the world’s leading content delivery platforms, Kaufman will present how companies can align their hardware, data center and network architecture with upcoming regulatory changes. His focus will be on practical solutions that will help organizations prepare for new security standards.

The panel will be moderated by Danko Jevtović, a member of the RNIDS Board of Directors and an expert with extensive international experience in the field of corporate governance and cyber security. His many years of experience in ICANN and other international organizations will provide a comprehensive view of the challenges that NIS2 brings. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the priority areas for implementation, the time frame for compliance and the potential consequences of non-compliance with the new regulation.

The NIS2 directive is not just another regulatory requirement – it represents a fundamental change in the approach to cyber security. For companies in Serbia, regardless of size, understanding and preparing for these changes becomes crucial for long-term success and competitiveness on the European market. Through the panel discussion, participants will be able to learn how to assess the current state of their cyber security, identify critical points that require improvement, and develop a strategy to comply with the new standards.

During the panel, visitors will get answers to questions: what implications will technology, regulations and AI have on the development of the Internet and on users, how will Web and AI technology affect marketing, business and growth strategies, what future scenarios can we expect, in order to prepare for the upcoming changes.

DIDS 2025 will be held on March 18 in the Youth Center of Belgrade. Due to the importance of the topic and the limited number of places, the organizers recommend timely registration through the official website of the conference. For those unable to attend live, a broadcast will be provided via the RNIDS YouTube channel.
