Choosing an internet domain often appears to be a technical decision, but in practice it
represents one of the key elements of a company’s digital identity. This very dilemma
will be the focus of one of the most engaging segments of the Day of Internet Domains
of Serbia – DIDS 2026 conference, which will take place on March 17 at the Dom
omladine Belgrade.
At the center of the program is the interactive fireside chat “.RS vs .COM,” designed as
a dynamic on-stage debate where arguments for national and global domains will
directly “clash.” The format is not conceived as a traditional panel discussion, but rather
as an energetic exchange of viewpoints with active audience participation, giving the
topic additional weight and practical value.
The perspective of national .rs domains will be represented by Mladen Savić, founder
and director of True-False Hosting, who has more than 20 years of experience in the IT
industry. His career includes work on internet and network infrastructure, development
of web applications and server systems, as well as extensive experience in server
architecture design and production system administration.
The company he leads is today among the accredited registrars of national domains in
Serbia and has achieved the fastest growth in its category in a short period, as
confirmed by recognition from RNIDS. His professional focus is on reliability and
performance of internet services, as well as supporting the digital operations of small
and medium-sized enterprises, making his perspective particularly relevant to the
domestic market.
On the other side, the global perspective on domains will be presented by Zoran
Buhavac from Gama Electronics, an expert with decades of experience in
telecommunications and the ICT sector. He began his professional career at Telekom

Srbija, working on system maintenance and large corporate clients, and since 2004 he
has been actively involved in the development and sale of internet services.
His long-standing involvement in the RNIDS Foundation, including serving as President
of the Board of Directors and President of the Co-founders Conference, brings an
additional dimension to the discussion by connecting technical, business, and strategic
perspectives on domain development in Serbia and beyond.
This exchange comes at a time when data clearly shows shifts in the market. Since
2008, the .rs domain has recorded continuous growth, from the first tens of thousands
of registrations to more than 160,000 active domains today, while research indicates
that as many as 69.8% of companies in Serbia use a .rs domain, compared to 25.6%
using .com.
These trends raise key questions for companies: has the local domain become the
default choice, how does it influence user trust and brand recognition, and where does
the global .com stand when it comes to expanding business beyond domestic market
borders?
The conference is organized by the RNIDS Foundation (Register of National Internet
Domain Names of Serbia), and DIDS 2026 will be held under the slogan “New
Horizons,” focusing on the future of digital identity and the development of the internet
space. Throughout the one-day program, the latest research, panel discussions, and
keynote lectures will be presented, further illuminating the role of domains in modern
business.
For years, DIDS has gathered key stakeholders of the internet community, and this
year’s edition brings an even stronger focus on strategic decisions that directly impact
companies’ digital presence.
Due to high interest and limited seating capacity, organizers recommend that interested
participants register via the official conference website. For those unable to attend in
person, live streaming will be available on the RNIDS YouTube channel.
