The Serbian National Internet Domain Registry Foundation (RNIDS) is organizing the Serbian Internet Domain Day Conference – DIDS 2026, which will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Belgrade youth center.
This year’s edition of the conference is held under the slogan “New Horizons” and will be dedicated to the future of the internet space, the development of digital identity, and the strategic importance of domains in modern business. DIDS 2026 will bring together domestic and international experts from the fields of the internet, technology, artificial intelligence, marketing, law, and domain management, with the aim of opening discussions on key topics related to the future of digital business and online presence.
The conference program will open with a keynote by Marika Konings, Vice President of ICANN and leader of the New gTLD Program, titled: “Tap into opportunity with your own piece of the internet – Are you ready for the new gTLD program: 2026 round?”
Marika Konings joined ICANN in July 2008 and in her current role as Vice President and leader of the New gTLD Program, she is responsible for leading and directing organizational activities related to the implementation of the next round of ICANN’s New Generic Top-Level Domains Program. Previously, she served as Vice President for Policy Development Support, where she coordinated cross-community activities contributing to the development of global policies in line with ICANN’s mission to preserve the security, stability, and interoperability of the internet. Prior to joining ICANN, she was Director of European Affairs at the Cyber Security Industry Alliance and previously worked as a senior public policy consultant in Brussels. She graduated from Maastricht University and earned a master’s degree in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges.
The presentation will outline the opportunities offered by the new round of the New gTLD Program 2026, including information on the application and evaluation process, as well as examples of customized domain extensions used by companies, cities, and communities around the world. The application window is expected to open on April 30, 2026.
The second keynote will be delivered by Maja Bilić, Senior Product Manager at Google Cloud in New York, on the topic: “Using Artificial Intelligence in Everyday Life – Hype or Reality.”
Maja Bilić works as a Senior Product Manager at Google Cloud, focusing on developer tools and the application of generative artificial intelligence to improve processes and platforms used by millions of developers worldwide. She has over 15 years of experience in product management, strategy, and operations across digital marketing, data, analytics, developer tools, and artificial intelligence, gained through work in Croatia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Her interests include connecting the humanities and technology, with a special focus on how artificial intelligence is integrated into everyday work processes.
The lecture will include examples of the application of artificial intelligence in a business environment, with an emphasis on integrating AI tools into workflows and organizational processes.
The conference will also feature a .RS vs .COM domain fireside chat, a panel discussion titled “Smart Business, Smarter Domains: The Next Wave of Digital Brands,” a presentation of RNIDS research results on the use of national internet domains, as well as a segment dedicated to the “Lokalac na internetu” project.
DIDS 2026 continues the tradition of bringing together key stakeholders of the internet community in Serbia, with a focus on knowledge and experience exchange on topics that influence the further development of the digital space.
Due to the importance of the topic and a limited number of seats, organizers recommend timely registration via the official conference website. For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be provided via the RNIDS YouTube channel.
