The fifteenth Serbian Internet Domain Day conference will be held on March 18 in the Youth Center of Belgrade, and the central place of this year’s event is the topic of the future of the Internet and new regulations that will significantly affect the digital space.
The key lecture will be given by Polina Malaja, policy director at the Association of European National Internet Registries (CENTR).
As an expert who leads CENTR’s business policy and collaborates with governments, institutions and other organizations in the Internet ecosystem, Malaja will talk about the Internet in the past, present and scenarios that potentially await us in the future.
Polina Malaja, who holds a master’s degree in international law and intellectual property law, is particularly focused on the interaction between technology and fundamental rights and freedoms in the digital age. Her expertise in this area will provide conference participants with a unique insight into the changes that await us.
New challenges of the digital age
This year’s DIDS conference, which carries the slogan “Back to Future”, will explore the key aspects of the future of the Internet through the prism of global regulations, technological innovations and business trends, through the lecture of Polina Malaja.
Special attention will be paid to the implications of NIS2 regulation, GRPR and other current standards on technical infrastructure and privacy.
Regulations that shape the future
As part of his presentation “Back to the Future: Towards a Stronger Internet”, Malaja will analyze how the Internet has experienced the rise of large technology corporations and the trend towards centralization over the last few decades.
An important part of the lecture will be devoted to new technologies in their infancy, such as artificial intelligence and extended reality (Extended Reality – XR), which have the potential to further change the Internet ecosystem, especially in the context of the next phase of development of the World Wide Web (Web 4.0).
During the conference, two different scenarios of the potential future development of the Internet and the Web will be discussed, with a special focus on solutions that could contribute to keeping the digital future bright, safe, inclusive and open.
